There’s been a ridiculous amount of bad press today about Apple’s “awful” new Maps app in iOS 6. It’s been called a disaster, horrific, and even shitty. Stop it.
Sure, the new Maps app isn’t perfect. There’s some areas with incredibly poor image quality. There’s no public transit support anymore. Some locations are off. These are all serious problems. Should Apple have ironed out these problems before shipping the app? Probably. Regardless, the fact of the matter is that iOS 6’s maps are still awesome. I’ve been using the app for around three months already, and only ran into an issue once. The 3D landscapes are the coolest and most detailed I’ve ever seen in any mapping software. People have been quick to point out only the flawed areas in the Maps app. I have a feeling some are even looking for problematic data on purpose.
Instead of focusing on the negative, let’s look at how cool these maps really are. Take a look:
